Provincial Executive Experience
As a member of the Provincial Executive (PE), Martha has been directly involved in or led the following initiatives:
• Co-Authored Building Better Schools, Stronger Communities Strategy as part of the Strategic Action Plan
• Led the development and brought forward motions to financially support the Women’s Advocate Program
• Supported and brought motions to the Provincial Executive to celebrate and recognize World Education Support Personnel Day on May 16th of every year.
• Urged Teachers’ Unions from across the country to sign on to the American Federation of Teachers’ Manifesto to support Education Workers worldwide
• Each year, OSSTF/FEESO writes to the Minister of Education, Opposition Parties, and affiliates to join OSSTF/FEESO in celebrating World Education Support Personnel Day.
As a Provincial Executive Liaison to Districts and Bargaining Units, Martha advocated or led initiatives in support of local issues such as:
• Advocated for a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture for our members working in the Research Centres of Guelph University
• Introduced the Women’s Advocate Program to the Vice Presidents for inclusion in the 2018-2019 Annual Action Plan.
• Led the campaign against the Ontario College of Teachers fee increase in 2018.

• Advocated for Bargaining Unit representatives to attend the meetings of the College of Early Childhood Educators.

• Championed expanding community coalitions with the Ontario Autism Coalition and the Ontario Teacher Candidate Council during the 2019 round of bargaining.
• Led the University of Ottawa No Vote- Final Offer Campaign in 2020

• Brought forward the changes to expand the Land Acknowledgement statement at provincial meetings and events
• Led the review of Health and Safety collective bargaining language to be shared with the Protective Services Committee.
• Participated in events held by the Association for Early Childhood Educators and liaised with staff at the Coalition for Better Child Care to advocate for our members working in Full day Kindergarten and Early Childhood Education.
